“For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. Born in sin?

We all start out life looking something like the picture above. Some would have us believe that the infant above needs to be baptized because mankind is born into a sinful state and needs to start out life cleansed of those sins which they have never committed in the first place. The scriptures teach that a child is born free from sin and does not require baptism until they have reached an accountable age and can understand what sin is and see their need to be forgiven of them. Then the Floods Came!

God at one time destroyed the whole world with a catastrophic flood that killed all of mankind and most of the animal life of this planet. God has promised that He will not destroy the earth with water again and has given us a rainbow to remind us and Him of this promise (Genesis 9:12-17). Metaphorically, however, we are still inundated with a flood that threatens to overtake us spiritually. Continue reading

Christmas Folly

Can you imagine on what day of the year our Lord and Savior was born? If you think December 25th, you would be wrong. Actually, December 25th was originally a pagan holiday and was adopted by the Catholic church as Christ’s birthday probably in an attempt to convert the then largely pagan population to Catholicism. The scriptures do not tell us the actual date of Jesus’ birth. Continue reading

Sincere Love of The Brethren

There are many examples of love in the old testament: Ruth’s love for Naomi (book of Ruth); Jacobs love for Rachael (Genesis 29:1-28) and even physical love between King Solomon and His wife (Song of Solomon). Perhaps the greatest example is the love between David and Jonathan (1 Samuel 18:3,4). Their love for each other gives us the perfect example of how we should love our brothers and sisters in the Lord. Continue reading
