Life Without God Two

Not too long ago I did a post dealing with how it is impossible in this world to have a life completely without God since He is seen in everything He created and works to maintain the earth and is even involved in world affairs. There is, however, another sense that we can be without God in this life. When we choose to cut ourselves off from God and live our lives as if there is no God, we are essentially living a life without God. God is ever near us if we seek for Him, but He can be far away if we choose to live without Him in our lives.

Romans 1:28-32 says: “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.”

How far is one fallen who will not retain God in their knowledge. In other words they live their lives as if there is no God and do not seek to follow the laws of God, so God has given them over to a debased mind, filled with unrighteousness of every sort. It is easy to see from this passage that one who does not fill his mind with the goodness of God’s word and laws is full of every kind of evil imaginable and is of a unloving, untrustworthy heart that cannot know love because he does not know God.

It is hard to imagine living a life without God’s guidance and direction. I can remember trying to live without God for a time in my youth and I found first hand that without Him there is really nothing left but the wisdom of this world, which is often rooted in all kinds of evil motivations and impulses that God teaches us to avoid through His word. The Godless man truly is a selfish and uncaring individual that cannot see the true wisdom that comes from God. He is adrift is a cold, unfeeling world that has no true spiritual basis, but rather depends on his carnal or fleshly instincts much like an animal might.

Indeed, a man without God is more like an animal than the man God intends for him to be. He does not lift himself and his thinking above the realm of instinct and impulse. The righteousness seeking man, on the other hand, let’s God tell him what He would have him do and thus rises to a spiritual plain that the carnal man cannot attain. Life without God would be pointless indeed.

Yet man and his science of evolution tries to explain life as if there is no God and so puts man on par with the animals through his evolutionary theories and the like. He proves to those who are discerning that he can attain no level above the instinct of the animal because he seeks to justify his life without God, instead of turning to God in his motivations and his thinking and learning to pursue righteousness as God intended.

For all his erudition and flowery speech, the man without God is merely seeking to justify his existence and his disobedience and rejection of God. God has given him over to a mind filled with the vilest of temptation or even to the a life of practicing the vilest things and try as he might, he will never be able to overcome the life of sin he has chosen without God. His ultimate end is condemnation and judgment at the hands of the God which he is trying to deny and disprove.

Does anyone really want to live a life enslaved to sin and with a cold and calloused heart that can only know truly how to feel through God and His righteousness? I think not. If you find yourself in such a condition today you must but repent and follow the plan of salvation to lead a new and God led life as you were meant to be. To learn the steps that lead to eternal salvation see the Plan of Salvation link above and study your bible and consider the  posts under the category Plan of Salvation to the right.

You, too, can begin a new life as a child of God and have God in your life. Any life without God is a wasted life and not worth living. Consider the state of your soul and do the right thing while you still have life to do so. Once this life is over it will be too late to turn to God. Do it before it is too late. Learn to obey Him in all things and find out just how rewarding life with God in it can be.

May God bless and keep you until next time.
