If you love me…

Jesus said in John 14:15: “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” The New Testament its original Greek used two different words that are translated love in our English bibles. The first is agapaho  which is a higher love in a moral sense, such as we feel for God. The second is phileo, which is to have an affection for in the more personal sense or the love that we might have for the fellow human beings in our life (brotherly love). In this passage the higher form of the word is used, denoting that Jesus wants us to love Him in the higher sense that we love God in that we will revere and worship Him as well as keep His commandments. Spiritual Growth

I say again: “And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.” (Ephesians 4:11-16). Every Wind of Doctrine

Another Thanksgiving Day

Day after tomorrow is Thanksgiving day, which gives us a chance as a nation to pause and thank our God for the many blessings of life and as a national holiday it is a good thing. Still, let us remember, as Christians, that we are to carry this thanksgiving and thankfulness with us every day of the year, ever being thankful to God for His many blessings. God Or Mammon?

Well, we have elected another President. I voted for Trump and I think he may do some great things for our country, but we should approach the new Presidency with a note of caution. Donald Trump has spent his life up to this point in the single-minded pursuit of riches and monetary gain. It is because of this, perhaps, that he may be able to oversee a revival of prosperity in this country that has been lacking for the past twenty years or so. We must be careful, however,  as Christians not to get carried away with this and keep our priority on Spiritual things, serving our God and not Mammon ( which means riches). Matthew 6:24 says: “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” We must be careful to follow our new president as our leader but not use his life as an example of how we should live ours. Continue reading →
