The Apostle Peter quoted Isaiah in 1 Peter 1:24,25 with the following: “All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away, But the word of the Lord endures forever.” All that we know in this life will one day be destroyed (2 Peter 3:10), yet the Word of God will continue forever. This is one way of saying that what God has spoken through the scriptures stands the test of time and will never be obsolete or our of style.
Some people now-a-days contend that the bible is old fashioned and what it teaches no longer applies to our modern society, but we know, as the scriptures contend, that God’s word is just as new and relevant as it was on the day it was first written. It’s teachings and it’s principles can be applied to our lives just as they were applied to the lives of early Christians, Patriarchs and children of Israel in ancient times. It still has the power to transform our lives into something that is not only acceptable to man but also to God.
God’s word is forever the standard by which we all will be judged in the last day and not one jot or tittle of it will ever lose it’s relevance or power. God has proclaimed what He would have us know about Him and has given us the guidelines we need to live in a way that is pleasing and acceptable to Him.
All we have to do is follow it and we can be assured of the rewards that it promises. This will never change, though many lives of man come and go as the grass comes and goes. Though the earth itself pass away along with the entire universe, God’s word will continue and cannot be destroyed despite man’s best efforts to quench it.
The problem with our modern day society is that too many would like to do without God and without His direction, but we can be assured that, though our numbers seem to dwindle every year, some remnant of us will always seek our God and find direction from Him through the scriptures.
The very fact that His word has continued all through the centuries and in some form or another has continued since the beginning of time, should reassure us that it will never end as long as life on this planet continues and even in heaven it will continue in some form or another. God will always be and has always been and will not leave us without direction and guidance (Hebrews 13:5).
So, if you are looking for something that has stood the test of time and will never go out of style, the gospel is for you. Not only that, but if you obey God and keep His commandments you can also continue forever in heaven once your sojourn on earth is done.
The key is to first believe that Jesus is who He says he is, the son of God, and then obey Him in baptism after repenting of your sins and confessing your belief in Him. Once baptized it is possible to fall from grace and be lost, so we must continue to live a faithful life until death or the Lord returns. May God bless and keep you until next time.
